The Casino MK in Milton Keynes is gearing up to host its first-ever Unibet UK Poker Tour event, a £40,000 guaranteed no-limit hold;em tournament running from Mar. 15-17.
Unibet created this UK tour in 2017 and have since run nine events. Each of the tournaments costs £220 to enter, has a £40,000 guaranteed prize pool and one re-entry is permitted on each of the two starting flights. Players also have the option to play both Day 1A and Day 1B, taking their largest stack with them to Day 2 should they progress from both starting flights.
Whoever takes down a Unibet UK Poker Tour event during 2019, there will be four stops, wins the lion’s share of the prize pool, a custom trophy and a €2,000 Unibet Open package; another €2,000 Unibet Open package is awarded to the online qualifier who lasts the longest.

This will be the first time the Casino MK has hosted a Unibet UK Poker Tour event. Although one of the United Kingdom’s Super Casinos and boasting a sizeable poker room, Casino MK has not being a venue synonymous with major live poker events.
John Gudger, father for former PKR sponsored pro Eleanor Gudger, won £12,750 at the Casino MK when he won the partypoker WPT National UK event in Dec. 2013, which is the biggest single prize won in a poker tournament at the venue. Whoever wins the Unibet UK Poker Tour event this week will be hoping for a similar, if not larger, prize.
The biggest prize the Unibet UK Poker Tour has awarded came in 2018 at the Rendezvous Casino in Brighton. Michael Tucknott topped a field of 327 to secure a £14,220 payout after a heads-up deal with Jason Westbury. This sum surpassed the £14,090 awarded to Mateusz Krzyzewski at the inaugural Unibet UK Poker Tour in 2017, also in Brighton.

Chris O'Donnell tonight became UKIPT Brighton champion after beating Richard Hasancebi in a gruelling heads up to win £71,100. The online cash game player, dubbed 'Bobby Big Head' by his friends, picked up the chip lead halfway through Day 1 and always looked like a lock to make the final table. O'Donnell beat a record UKIPT Brighton main event field of 603 runners to win the trophy, more than twice that of last year, contributing to a £292,455 prize pool.
